The AFL has released two online education modules focused on the topics of Illicit Drugs in Sport and Violence against Women.  These free resources aim to create better, more inclusive football clubs by building the clubs’ capacity to deliver in-house education on key social issues.

The AFL is committed to providing safe, welcoming and inclusive environments for everyone involved in Australian football at all levels.  The following online education modules contribute to this commitment by addressing key social issues within our community.

Taking the Tackle: Respect is for Everyone:

The Taking the Tackle online training module, provides community football club personnel with an opportunity to learn how to deliver education on respectful relationships in a community football setting. The aim of the online module is to provide the trainer with information on the issue of Violence against Women, and the skills to deliver a session using the Taking the Tackle manual and DVD.

‘A fantastic course, very easy to navigate and very informative.  A great resource for community football clubs wanting to provide education around this important social issue’

Jo Graydon, Northern Districts Football Club discussing the Taking the Tackle online training module.

Illicit Drugs in Sport:

The Illicit Drugs in Sport online module features current and former AFL players Brad Sewell, Stefan Martin, Steve Morris, Tom McDonald and David Wojkinski discussing the dangers and impacts of illicit drug and alcohol use.  Using scenario based activities, the online module provides learners with the tools on how to stay safe around illicit drugs and alcohol, and is designed for players aged 15-25 years.

How to get Involved:

The online courses can be found in the AFL eLearning Centre
