Tackle Training During the Offseason

Finding time throughout the season to complete administration courses can often be an uphill battle: the offseason is a perfect time to tackle training that will help you run your club.

The AFL Community Club eLearning Centre offers a range of courses for administrators (as well as coaches and umpires) to gain skills and necessary certificates for effective club management.

All courses are conducted online and can be completed at your leisure. Course costs range from being free to a nominal fee. Key courses you can enrol for include:

Planning for Football Clubs

Cost: $19.80    
 
As part of the AFL Club Management Program, by the end of this this module you should be able to:

  1. Explain why clubs need to plan
  2. Explain the 10 stages of the planning process
Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (V3)

Cost: $65.00

If your club serves alcohol, relevant volunteers should complete this course.

Under the Responsible Service of Alcohol training scheme, supported by the relevant state liquor licensing authorities, it is recommended that all licensees, liquor serving staff, and security employees be trained in the responsible service of alcohol in premises where alcohol is sold.

This course will provide you with essential skills and knowledge in:

  • Identifying customers to whom service may be refused
  • Preparing and serving alcoholic beverages responsibly
  • Assisting Customers to drink within appropriate limits
  • Assisting alcohol affected people
Hygiene Procedures V2

Cost: $65.00

If your club serves food, relevant volunteers working in kitchens or handling/serving food should complete this course. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a nationally recognised 'Statement of Attainment'.

  • Receipt and Storage
  • Personal Hygiene
  • Food Spoilage and Poisoning
  • Food Poisoning Bacteria
  • Food Preparation
  • Allergens
  • Cleaning
  • Pest Control
How to Manage Priorities

Cost: Free

Club volunteers' time is often limited and precious so they need to know their priorities and work efficiently. Encourage club administrators to do this course to learn how take control of their work schedule, manage their time and better prioritise work tasks.

At the completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Define and set both personal and organisational goals
  • Plan and prioritise competing demands
  • Better control the time thieves
