The AFL 2010 High Performance Coaching Course was held at the AIS in Canberra in early October.

The program schedule included interactive sessions covering coaching philosophy, communication and culture and personal/professional development sessions. 

The program included sessions with David Parkin, Damian Farrow, Ray McLean, Stan Alves, David Wheadon along with experienced coaches from other sports and experts in broader industry.

Participants are selected upon application.  This year participants included:

  • Mark Bickley, Adelaide Football Club (AFL)
  • Michael Braun,  East Perth Coach (WAFL)
  • Mathew Capuano, Carlton Football Club (AFL)
  • Danny  Daly, Richmond Football Club (AFL)
  • Brendon Lade, Richmond Football Club (AFL)
  • Justin  Longmuir, Fremantle Football Club (AFL
  • Beau McDonald, Brisbane Lions Football Club (AFL) 
  • Nick Stevens, NSW/ACT AFL Academy
  • Scott West, Melbourne Football Club (AFL)
  • Plus other experienced AFL and state league coaches.

As in previous years, the course overlapped with the NAB AFL Draft Combine to provide coaches with the opportunity to network with other AFL coaches and witness the best young talent from across Australia being put through their testing.
