The Australian Football League, its clubs and players proudlu support White Ribbon Day, Sunday November 25.
There is no excuse for violence against women in any form and AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou said this key message must never be forgotten.
"The statistics for violence against women - wives, mothers, daughters, sisters - are horrifying and leadership is required to ensure women are safe in our society," Mr Demetriou said.
"The AFL, our clubs and our elite players have a vital role to show young men that such violence is never acceptable in any circumstances and poor behaviour towards women can never be tolerated."
High profile AFL White Ribbon Ambassadors include Adam Goodes (Sydney Swans) and Luke Power (Greater West Sydney), and Mr Demetriou said he urged all men to regularly speak out against violence towards women.
Mr Demetriou said all AFL clubs take part in the annual Respect and Responsibility Program around respectful relationships which is also delivered to various State League and Community Clubs.
