The Melbourne Football Club celebrated women and girls in football by naming the Round 13 clash against GWS "Women’s Round".
As major sponsors of Victorian Women's Football League since 2009, the Club is passionate about promoting females who play, administer and support Australian Rules.

Free tickets for women in football
The Club gave away tickets to 500 women and girls who play and administer football including those from the Victorian Women’s Football League.
AFL Victoria VWFL Academy & Victorian U18 State team Lap of Honour
The under 18 Female Victorian state squad who recently won the 2012 Under 18 National Championships completed a lap of honour at half-time alongside the VWFL Academy. This squad is made of the best young female footballers in the state.
Guard of Honour
Fifty young female Demons were at the MCG to cheer on the boys as the run through the banner.
