Umpires Visit the Community

Friday, March 18, 2016

Last week saw 27 AFL umpires get on the road to visit communities throughout Australia to promote their craft.

Locations included Esperance, Darwin, Canberra, Warrnambool and Launceston as well as metropolitan centres Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobart.

Each roadshows had an AFL Field, Boundary and Goal Umpire and included visits to schools, community umpiring groups and local media events.

The umpires promoted the benefits of umpiring, including making friends, getting fit and earning money. They also spoke about how much of a buzz it is to be in the middle of the action.
