Dean Margetts will umpire an U17 match.

Dean Margetts to umpire local U17’s football match

AFL Umpire Dean Margetts will spend his weekend break during the AFL split-round umpiring a game of Under 17s football in the Demons District in Western Australia.

Dean originally began umpiring with the Demons District Football Umpires Association (DDFUA). The DDFUA is an incorporated association based in the southeast metropolitan area of Western Australia. It is home to all field umpires officiating the game of AFL football in the Demons District. The Demons District is under the jurisdiction of the Perth Football Development Council and covers an area extending from South Perth to Gosnells.

Dean will return to grass-roots football as part of the Demons District’s major contribution to the Umpiring is Everyone’s Business campaign. The core philosophy of this campaign is that umpiring is everyone's business- whether you are a coach, player, parent, administrator, support, we all have a role to play in creating positive match day environments.

Dean has been appointed to the following match:

Sunday, 27th June
2.30PM Gosnells V Kenwick at Sutherlands C, Gosnells

This unique event will demonstrate the AFL’s commitment to grass-roots football and local football’s obligation to ensuring that Umpiring is Everyone’s Business. The local community, local clubs, and the umpiring fraternity are incredibly excited about this event and all feel that it will be a worthwhile achievement.

The DDFUA is also proud of Dean’s achievements in the AFL and his commitment to his original umpiring group. The DDFUA’s umpires are very excited about the opportunity to be involved in this game and the chance to umpire with Dean.

DDFUA President Daniel Gibbons believes “that this is a unique event that will promote umpiring in our district but also give everyone involved the opportunity to showcase junior football.” “Our district has taken some strong steps over the past few years to ensure that junior football is played in an environment that is safe and enjoyable for all involved. This event will demonstrate that.”
