Warwick SHS Claim Their 1st Jakovich Division Title

Tuesday, July 29, 2014

Warwick SHS and Corpus Christi College locked horns for the second year in a row to decide the AFL SportsReady Cup- Jakovich Division. In a hard fought game played in slippery conditions, neither side took the early ascendency to have any real advantage by half time. Warwick broke free with a strong second half kicking four goals to nil to open up a handy break. In the end it was Warwick who maintained control to run out winners by 32 points.

AFL SportsReady General Manager Brad Collard & Division patron Glen Jakovich were on hand to present the AFL SportsReady Cup and medallions to the players, coaches and umpires.

Luke Halligan (Warwick) and Harry Ingram (Corpus Christi) were awarded the match balls post game as recognition for being their schools best players in the grand final.

The WAFC would also like to congratulate Great Southern Grammar School for taking out the Walker Division of the AFL SportsReady Cup at the recent Senior High School Country Week Championships.

“The West Australian Football Commission greatly appreciates the support received from all participating schools, AFL SportsReady and School Sport WA. I would also like to sincerely thank those teachers who gave up their time to coach a school football team in the competition. As part of the WAFC’s continued efforts to promote Schoolboys football, The AFL SportsReady Cup “Cable” Division Grand Final match will be played as the post-match fixture to the Fremantle v Carlton game on Thursday July 31st, with Darling Range Sports College looking for their first Cable division crown against a very talented CBC Fremantle” said WAFC Schools Competitions Manager Clayton Anderson.
