Thursday, September 11, 2014

Kaif Mohammed from Kedron State School has defeated over 2,700 students across Australia to be named the national champion of the 2014 AFL Fantasy Schools Competition.

The competition was open to primary and secondary students across Australia.

Richmond captain and AFL Schools ambassador, Trent Cotchin praised Noah on his achievement.

“I’d like to congratulate Kaif on his fantastic effort; hopefully we might even see him coaching an AFL side one day,” he said.

As part of the competition students were asked to create and coach their ‘ ideal AFL team’, selecting players within a salary cap and trading them throughout the season according to players’ performance in the AFL competition.

Each student’s team was then ranked against other entrants from their school, with Kaif and the other best performing students progressing to the state championships. Kaif then competed against other state champions in a finals series.

Year 5 student Kaif, will receive an I-Pad, $400 AFL Store voucher and a football signed by Trent Cotchin. Kedron State School will also receive an AFL 9s kit.
