SA AFL School Ambassadors

Tuesday, March 27, 2012

The South Adelaide Football Club kicked off the 2012 AFL Schools program by hosting an AFL School Ambassadors Launch at Hickinbotham Oval on Wednesday the 14th of March. 20 AFL Ambassadors from a variety of South Adelaide zoned primary and high schools attended the event, hosted by the SAFC SANFL Development Coordinator Warren Ploenges.

The highlight of the event was the main presentation conducted by SAFC League Coach Ron Fuller. He gave an excellent insight into the SAFC and their approach on skill development. Ron, who was assisted by SAFC Football Manager Neill Sharpe and SAFC League player and U18 AIS representative Emmanuel Irra, spoke about the fundamental skills of the game, key coaching tips and the important role of a teacher in teaching our great game.

Ron gave an insight into how teachers can not only help to promote the game and increase participation numbers, but also assist the SAFC to show talented young footballers the pathway into SANFL and AFL football.

Victor Harbour Primary School teacher Danny Robinson then finished off the launch with an excellent presentation on the SEPEP program, how it can be used for AFL and how any teacher can successfully implement it into their PE program.

The AFL Ambassadors were able to then stay for pizza and refreshments while watching Ron Fuller in action at League training.
