Mundy and Selwood Entertain WA AFL School Ambassadors

Friday, March 30, 2012

Fremantle Dockers player David Mundy and West Coast Eagle, Adam Selwood, entertained over 200 AFL School Ambassadors and their guests at a function to launch the AFL Schools Season in WA.

Held at Patterson Stadium prior to the NAB Cup games on Sunday 19 February, presentations from key corporate and football partners included new WAFC Commissioner, Larry Kickett, Coles WA Marketing Manager, Colin Chantler and AFL Sports Ready State Manager, Leigh Willison.

Also in attendance were BHP Billiton Manager Community Development, Fran Ferreira, as well as Chairs of the WAFC Education Advisory Groups; Neil Darby, Daryl Mansfield and Alby Nuich.

Selwood and Mundy reminisced about their school footy days in Victoria but also provided an insight into new recruits and their goals for 2012.

Mundy touched on the impact of new coach Ross Lyon while Selwood spoke of his, and his younger brother Scott’s, burning desire to play in a premiership together.

Key WAFC staff from the central office provided an outline of the key programs and initiatives for 2012 then district staff met briefly with their Ambassadors to discuss district activities.

Feedback from attendees was very positive. We are looking forward to a terrific year of AFL programs in WA schools driven by our hard working and highly valued AFL School Ambassadors.
