2012 National Buddy Day

Friday, April 27, 2012

Friday 1 June is National Buddy Day, a day to celebrate friendship and raise awareness about the issue of bullying.

One of the ways for children to participate in National Buddy Day is the ‘Buddy Handshake’. Children are encouraged to learn the kids-only handshake and teach it to each other as a celebration of the day. It's all about kids helping kids.

Kids can learn the steps of the Buddy Handshake by visiting any NAB branch or www.buddyday.org.au.

Kids can also check out the special NAB AFL Auskickers wearing purple and yellow at the St Kilda vs. Richmond match on 1 June at Etihad Stadium.

National Buddy Day is a joint initiative between NAB and The Alannah and Madeline Foundation. NAB is a long-standing partner of the Foundation’s Better Buddies Framework, an initiative designed to create friendly and caring primary school communities, where bullying is reduced.

The Alannah and Madeline Foundation is a national charity protecting children from violence and its devastating impact.
