Tuesday, September 04, 2012

The Australian International Academy came out overall winners of the Islamic Schools EID Cup, an Australian football competition they hosted to mark the end of the month of Ramadan.

The day was also a community celebration of their identity through competitive engagement.

Players from years 7/8 from four Islamic schools participated in the competition at the end of August in Melbourne.

The schools included:

  • Australian International Academy (convening school)
  • Minaret College
  • East Preston Islamic College
  • Illim College

The Islamic Schools EID Cup was a private interschools event organised by the Australian International Academy with participation from other Islamic schools and support from the AFL and AFL Vic.

The AFL Schools Multicultural Program encourages all students to become involved in Australian football.
