Bail Supports Dad in Marathon Effort

Thursday, September 12, 2013

While members of the playing group plan their off season activities, Rohan Bail is preparing to head to Vietnam to support his father, Garry, who will run 25 kms and ride 75 kms each day for 10 days, raising funds for students in Vietnam.

Defying the humid conditions and stress on his body, Rohan is in awe of his 58 year-old dads determination.

Rohan said, Dad would be fitter than me over that ultra marathon length I reckon, but Id still have him covered over a shorter distance, Id hope! Im going to ride some of the way Dad for moral support.

The purpose of the run and ride is to raise funds for KOTO students in Vietnam. KOTO is a vocational training organisation for street and disadvantaged youth in Vietnam. After visiting Vietnam eight times and volunteering in an orphanage, Garry decided that financially supporting KOTO was the best way to genuinely give back to the Vietnamese community.

Garry is aiming to raise a minimum of $36,000 for KOTO, which will support 15 youth through KOTO's two year training program, with the aim of giving them life skills to become employable.

Garry said, The Melbourne Football Club playing group has personally donated over $5,500, which I really, really appreciate. Id also like to thank the MFC for supporting me in my preparation for the run and ride.

Rohan will also be conducting footy clinics for children throughout his journey.
