Woomeras Come from Behind to Make it 2 from 2

The Woomeras have enjoyed a come from behind victory to upset South Australia by 10 points in Game 6 of the Youth Girls Nationals. 

A big second quarter from the newcomers kicking away from the breeze, leave them undefeated after a 6.1.37 to 4.3.27 victory. 

South Australia’s Taylor Gordon opened the first term with a beautiful set shot goal from 40 metres out on a slight angle. 

Sarah Allan crumbing the ball from a contest, kicked their second and gave South Australia the early lead. 

The Woomeras snuck one in on the siren however, to close the gap to just six points at the first break and effectively changed the momentum of the match. 

A great snap from Northern Territory recruit, Kiara Cooper, early in the second gave the Woomeras some inspiration, who quickly slotted through another to take over the lead. 

The third quarter saw the lead change several times, with neither club being able to put the game out of contention. 

A spectacular goal from Imahra Cameron from a tight angle off the boundary was the game changer, giving the Woomeras a big lift heading into the final quarter.

Each side scored early in the fourth, but it was a big contested mark from Desiree Atkins, who turned around to kick truly that sealed a fairytale win for the Woomeras.
